About Quinn Kiernan

I am a Production Assistant with the National Basketball Association interested in communications, publishing, media, film, and tv production. I have a diverse writing history, including short comedic sketches for stage and video, feature-length screenplays, documentaries, and dramatic short films. In addition to an extensive creative writing history, I’ve excelled in academic writing on film and music. Most recently, I completed a Philosophy thesis on the films of Michael Haneke and Krzysztof Kieślowski for Boston College, analyzing them from a phenomenological perspective—how they manipulate the medium to transform the spectator’s viewing experience.

With this interest in writing, I naturally needed an outlet to create and produce what I’ve written. I have excellent knowledge of mirrorless, DSLR, and cinema cameras, with my personal work now being completed on a Blackmagic Cinema Pocket Camera 4K. I light, record audio, film and edit all my projects. I’ve been trained in Adobe Creative Cloud; most of my work has been completed using Premiere Pro, After Effects, Audition, and Photoshop. For color grading, I use Davinci Resolve.

To exemplify my creative interests and accomplishments, I’ve compiled below a video portfolio of some of my personal favorite projects. This past summer I completed a sports mockumentary on a game called "Lounge Tennis." In addition to this, I've included my recently finished documentary that I received funding for with a classmate titled “Redfish Point,” my most recent short film, “Rey,” and an array of comedic sketches, shorts, and after effects projects.

I’ve attached my thesis on Haneke and Kieślowski to highlight my academic writing abilities.

Thank you for visiting! I hope you enjoy my work.

Current Projects

I am now working on a documentary on the most prolific musician of our time (and perhaps of anyone's time), Matt Farley of Motern Media. Over the past year, I have filmed concerts, interviews, and behind the scenes of how Matt Farley makes music and movies. I am currently writing and editing the documentary and hope to premiere it in early 2024.
